Cladding the Frame

How to enclose the frame to produce an airtight and highly insulated space inside that is warm and comfortable.

One of the great advantages of timber frame is that it's easy to wrap it in an air-tight (draught-proof) envelope of highly insulating materials. There is a system that we'd like to recommend that involves natural breathable materials on the walls. The final finish is then render or timber clad, (or you can still use an outer cladding of brick or stone.)

We'd discuss all this early on, and your frame will be designed with the cladding material in mind.
